Steps to Apply
1. Contact Your Local VR Office
Reach out to your local Vocational Rehabilitation office to learn about available services and begin the application process.
2. Complete an Application
Provide basic information about yourself, your disability, educational background, work history, and employment goals.
3. Meet with a VR Counselor
A VR counselor will discuss your strengths, interests, challenges, and career goals to better understand your needs.
4. Determine Eligibility
You may be asked to provide records or participate in assessments to determine eligibility for services.
5. Create an Employment Plan
If eligible, you and your counselor will work together to develop an individualized plan to help you achieve your employment goals.
6. Receive Services and Support
Depending on your needs, services may include:
- Career counseling
- Education and training support
- Job readiness assistance
- Assistive technology
- Transportation assistance
- Job placement services
7. Work Toward Your Employment Goals
Stay connected with your counselor and complete the steps outlined in your employment plan to achieve meaningful employment.

What to Bring
When applying for services, you may be asked to provide:
- Social Security card or number (if requested)
- School records, transcripts, or an IEP/504 Plan (for students)
- Resume, work history, or training records (for adults)
- Information about benefits you receive
- Photo identification (if available)
- Proof of address
- Medical, psychological, or school records related to your disability
